CranioSacral Therapy

I have recently received my certification in CranioSacralTherapy (CST) from the Heartwood Institute of Integrative Medicine.  I have completed 120 hours of CST towards this certification and continue my education in CST.

CranioSacral Therapy was pioneered by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger.  CST is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the system known as the craniosacral system.  It is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, therapists release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.  Many believe this modality is an intuitive approach to communicating with the body.  The therapist moves his/her hands to assist the natural movement of the cerebrospinal fluid.

Myofascial Release

Treatment includes structural, soft tissue, and movement evaluations and setting measurable clinical goals. This treatment follows the tissue as it releases into greater ranges of elongation and allows the body to ‘slip into’ positions of past trauma and release protective patterns of tightness and bracing. Upon treatment, one can expect increased biomechanical efficiency of joints, motor coordination, and movement quality in addition to increased metabolic efficiency, strength, power and endurance.

“The fascial system surrounds, infuses with, and has the potential
to influence proufoundly every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, organ,
and cell of the body. Fascia also separates, supports, connects and
protects everything. This three-dimensional web of connective tissue is
alive and ever-changing as the body demands.
